About the Role:

The Veterinary Nursing Manager will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of the nursing staff in our Emergency and Specialty departments. This is a leadership role that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing daily operations of the nursing departments, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal patient care.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the nursing team, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling.
  • The nursing manager is expected to spend time on the floor or area of expertise to build strong rapport with technicians, DVMs, and clients.
  • A flexible schedule to manage swing and overnight technicians
  • Creating and implementing nursing protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Managing inventory and ordering supplies for the nursing departments.
  • Collaborating with veterinarians and other staff members to provide seamless and coordinated patient care.
  • Addressing client concerns and ensuring a positive client experience.
  • Managing budgets and controlling costs within the nursing departments.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Participating in strategic planning and contributing to the overall success of the hospital.
  • Strategic Marketing Planning - Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans aligned with the hospital's overall business objectives. This includes conducting market research, analyzing competitor strategies, identifying target audiences, and setting measurable goals.
  • Facilities Management includes preventative maintenance, supply & equipment maintenance, overall maintenance of repair activities, space planning & optimization
  • Manage the facility's aesthetics and cleanliness

Qualifications:

  • Veterinarian Technician Specialist (VTS), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in an emergency or specialty hospital setting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of veterinary medicine.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with veterinary practice management software
  • A passion for providing exceptional patient care and client service.
  • Ability to use technology and adapt to everyday changes and advancements in veterinary medicine.
